Jacques CALLOT (1592-1635), Les Misères et les Mal-heurs de la Guerre, represented by Jacques Callot, a noble man from Lorraine, and brought to light by his friend Israel. In Paris, 1633, in-8 oblong, half sorrow. Superb complete continuation of the second state of the 18 plates engraved by Israel after Callot, representing the misfortunes of war. We attached 18 very nice little original drawings by Callot's pen. Attitudes of the characters, preparation for transport on copperplate for engraving. With 13 vignettes of Callot by Israel: Les FANTA[I]SIES to Monseigneur Jean Louis de Baufremont, Comte de Randan Baron du Luguet. With 5 vignettes of Callot by Israel: lives of saints. Mounting XIXth. Provenance: acquired from the Paul PROUTÉ gallery in 1974, catalogue "Fontebasso".
